There are five ways to qualify for the Porcupine Hall of Fame:

  1. More than one SEVERE level quilling. Severe quillings usually require general anesthesia and or multiple quill pullers.
  2. Five or more quill removals, minor (usual) or moderate in severity.
  3. The quilling requires a trip to a referral hospital.
  4. Quills in unusual locations, IE. if the dog "humped" a porcupine!
  5. Most unique (honorable mention) as voted on by Pet Kare Doctors.

The Hall of Fame is no joke. Ranging from $250 to $1000 per incident, these dogs have truly earned their place in the list. If you are one of the unlucky guardians of an animal on this list, at least you're in good company.... and it could be worse....

5-03-09: Ducati just moved to Colorado and quickly joined the Porcupine Hall of Fame. We gave him honorable mention for the intensity with which he embraced his first ever porcupine quilling! Here's what he looked like after we removed all life threatening chest and neck quills:

With Ducati under deep sedation,
it took two people 1 hour of non-stop quill pulling to remove the quills from his face and mouth!

Honorable Mention Found online - it always could have been worse!

This was not at our hospital, thank god!
